Sony F828 and DP reviews

I've been a Sony DC guy for a few years now. I'm an amateur to be
sure, but I can take a good photo.

When the whole F828 news came out we were all craving it. There were
rumors of CA and other issues. The Sony loyalists claimed it was
bashing and repeated "wait for the production camera". Seemed
    reasonable.

Now the F828 is here. There are some obvious problems. To my
untrained eye the pictures look pretty crappy. What amazes me is that
one of the regular posters there (no names) keeps posting that it's no
big deal because they had the same problems with the F717 and he can
reproduce all these issues on the F717.

Is this guy an idiot? So why move up to the F828? You are going to
spend another $1000 for a camera that is little improved over the
    F717?

It seems most Sony loyalists are dead set on this camera being the
next be all end all. As much as I looked forward to this camera when
it was announce, I will not buy one that puts out pictures that are no
    better than a F717.

    Until some side by side comparisons are available (828 v 717 v 5700 v
A1...) and res charts it's not worth saying anything one way or the other.

As a proud and happy owner of a Sony 717, I think the
problems in the 828 are WORSE than in the 717 or in the
5mp CDRW Mavicam. (as a matter of fact the Mavicam 500
cdr seems a little cleaner and less "fringy" than the
    717).

This new Sony camera just seems to be a jump to MORE
    pixels, not BETTER pixels.

It may just be that the people that have been posting
images from the 828 are all lousy photographers, but
even a lousy photographer doesen't put noise in the blue
sky, or purple fringes on overhead wires and tree
branches, and those are what I have seen so far.

I too have seen the samples going around and think that there is too much
noise in the sky and therefore am not impressed. I love my 707 and have just
bought at 300D which in comparison is virtually noiseless at ISO 100 and
hardly noticeable at ISO 400 which cannot be said for my 707.

    Just my 2 cents worth...
