smi v emi

    Hi,
    Anyone explain the routing differences between smi and emi images on the
    3550 switches?

    EMI gives you HSRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP. With SMI you're basically limited
    to static routes and RIP2.

    Note that the hardware, and thus the basic IP forwarding, stays the same.
    The EMI/SMI difference is purely a software one.
