So i talked about having problems with my connections dropping out with the
PPP not working, up untill now for 2days it has been fine, where now im
faced with rebooting the router and trying to get it to work again.

While on the path to rebooting, i clicked on the security log and noticed
    this...
Should i be worried about this?
Could be be causing my PPP to fail?
Is there anything i can do to fix it?

    TIA

nope, happens all the time. Looks like your router has an inbuilt
firewall and its logging the connection attempts.

I am no expert on these things, but what kind of router *doesn't* act
as an incoming firewall by definition?

surely the whole purpose of a router is to route packets to the
resource that requested them. If there is no resource that has
requested a packet (unsolicited?) then the router will have nowhere to
    send it on to.

Or am I missing something here?

    Thanks,

    Alan.

This is valid as is. It is not munged, or altered at all.

It will be valid for AT LEAST one month from the date of this post.

If you are trying to contact me after that time,
it MAY still be valid, but may also have been
deactivated due to spam. If so, and you want
to contact me by email, try searching for a
more recent post by me to find my current

The following is a (probably!) totally unique

can use to find posts by me in a search engine:
