My son has been having persistent connection problems with his cable
broadband. He has had the Comcast repair guys over multiple times checking
his signal strength, noise ratios, etc. This last time, they told him his
Motorola SB5100 was not providing adequate shielding from nearby TV and FCC
antennas. They loaned him an RCA cable modem, and it seems to be better so
    far.
I've searched Broadband Reports, Tom's Hardware, CNet, even ePinions. The
reviews all seem to indicate that the products from the major players,
Motorola, Linksys,Netgear, RCA, Toshiba are all comperable in quality and
price. I've found no mention of "shielding". Anybody have any experience
in this area? I'm probably going to just buy him a Linksys and see if it
    works better for him.
