Sharp dv-hr300s recording modes

Discussion in 'DVD Video' started by Jorn Ostergaard, Feb 14, 2005.

  1. I have a Sharp dv-hr300s harddisk dvd recorder, which has recording modes
MN1 to MN32 (in 32 steps) (page 37 in the manual).

    FINE(MN32) = 60 minuttes on 4,7Gb dvd-r
    SP(MN21) = 120 minuttes on 4,7Gb dvd-r
    LP(MN9) = 240 minuttes on 4,7Gb dvd-r
    EP(MN1) = 360 minuttes on 4,7Gb dvd-r

How is that compared to analoque recording. Can I understand it this way,
FINE is DVD quality, SP is S-VHS quality, LP is VHS quality ?

What is the bitrate/bandwidth for the recording modes MN1 to MN32 ?

As far as i know, the bitrate for VHS is around 1150 Kb/s and for S-VHS the
bitrate is around 3.5 Mb/s. What is it for DV and DVD ?

    Greetings, Jorn
