Screen blackouts... Need help

Discussion in 'Computer Information' started by Robin Gray, UK, Dec 30, 2004.

  1. I'm having problems - sometimes when i click the start menu, open
menus or just change window, the screen goes black for about a second,
    then it comes back.

Sometimes it comes back and pauses for quite a while in which i can
only move the mouse pointer and not interact with the programs, and
sometimes it locks up completely such that i have to hit the reset
    button on my computer.

I have an NVidia Geforce 4 card and a Samsung SyncMaster 793DF monitor
(though it's not a problem with the monitor, cause i've tried it with
    two different ones.)

I've tried reinstalling graphics drivers, monitor drivers, using
different screen resolution or number of colours. Doesn't help!

    Any bright ideas, anyone?

    Thanks,
    Robin Gray

    try a diff graphics card!
    or
    try ctrl panel..display..settings..troubleshoot..
set acceleration to None. I have no idea what it means it'd lower
performance in some way(dunno to what extent) but it won't do any
harm. and can avoid some graphics problems.
