sap excel export with IE7 and no outbug excuse

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by wisdomkiller & pain, May 20, 2009.

  1. Lately, some of our office/XPSP3 users when exporting table data
from a IE7/java driven sap application, and opening the
resulting *.xls file in Office2003, get the
(translated) message "Excel needs Outlook Express to display this
file. Outlook express is a part of IE4.01 or greater ..."
The damned thing is, IE7 does not have Outbug Excuse anymore,
it only allows installing LiveMail which doesn't help either.
    Neither does Office-Outlook.
Since we use Notes for mail/workflow, we don't have Outbug installed
    anyway.
Some other users can open these xls files - which do have html headers,
    when watched in a viewer.
Since we have installed these pc's with a slipstreamed xp-sp3 image already
equipped with ie7, we cannot temporarily uninstall ie7 to get around that.

Anyone with a clue, before we have to get support from the sap/mircosoft
    people?
