From time to time I will see a thread, posted say back in 1997,
suddenly brought back to life here in the good old 21st century. The
thread will probably have 10-15 replies spanning over a month of 97(a
normal size thread in other words), then suddenly the dates become the
    present year.

Now I know on Google posts "die"(become read-only) after a month or
two of inactivity. So is this being done on NNTP newsreaders or some
    other vehicle?

    Thanks,
