    Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to find out the software version
number with a Cisco 501 if you don't know any passwords.

The reason I am asking is in the situation when you have to reset the
password by uploading the appropriate bin file that depends on the
version of the software. How do you get that version number?

When you go into monitor in order to upload the firmware, it shows the
bios version but not the version of the software.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I think you can do a show ver if logged in thru console port. that shouldn't
    require a password.
