    If you have time and use Linux, I would like to hear of the results of
    this command on different machines, especially a 600MHz pentium with
    integrated graphics

    x11perf -putimage500 -shmput500

    Please add description of your machine and, if you can, used X11 driver
    and resolution.

    Using a Old amd 900 MHz athlon and a tntII card with the nvidia driver I
    have two older machines arround the spec you asked for I just got to get
