Was given a Compaq Ipaq 3150.

    Battery is DOA.

I see batteries on eBay, but haven't been able to find instructions.

Is it user replaceable easily, or will I end up needing to unsolder,
solder, break diodes, etc. to replace it?

Also, what exactly is the screws on the back called? Torx? It's not
    standard or philips.

Yep, looked on google at replacing compaq 3150, but just seeing posts
    selling the battery, not instructions.

    Thanks.
