    can anyone help

I have a laptop which uses a USB to Serial adapter which has always been com
    3.
after messing about with trying to get it on my wireless network it now
    appears as com 8.
I am lead to believe this due to unused wireless network adapters still
being allocated to the other ports

is there any way to remove these unused adapters and free up the ports they
hold, as some of my applications need com3

    thanks in advance
