reinstall XP,without erasing data?

    I thought I had a router problem....
    as XP keeps freezin up,low resources errors-must force shut
    down-reboot

    its gotta be HD or XP,(I recently reduced many XP services ,to speed
    it up,now i need to reinstall XP over it,how is that done without
    erasing data?
