recording from cable box?

    I have a Comcast hi-def cablebox with built in DVR...works great.....Can
    I hook up a stand-alone dvr and record off the comcast dvr
    harddrive?...anybody doing this?...what kinda results.....will it record
    premium channels?...can i us the firewire output on the cablebox to a
    firewire in on a dvr?..do they make stand alone dvrs with digital video
    inputs?....questions questions....thanx in advance
