  1. Hi,

I can copy and read Punjabi text in words but it would not read on the Internet Explorer. I use Win98SE.

From the Internet Explorer toolbar, choose View and then
    Encoding, and check 'Auto Select'.

Thanks, I had forgotten about that. I don't know why I
bother replying to him, anyway - it never does any good.

What is the URL of the Internet Explorer page you can't view Punjabi
    fonts on?

What do you mean by, 'copy and read Punjabi text in words'? What
application can you see the fonts in and what is the exact name of the
    font?

Well, you seem to have the hang of reply to threads this time. Good for
    you.

I hate to point out the ** Bleeding Obvious **, but .......

On that URI you supplied, just below the top of the page under the
scrolling text, are 3 links -

Likhari in English Download Punjabi Fonts Likhari in Shahmukhi

Click on the link, ----->>>> Download Punjabi Fonts <<<<----- and follow
the instructions, below where it says -

    Punjabi Fonts
Please note that the Punjabi Fonts are required for viewing
    on the LIKHARI website.

The link for Sukhmani, does not work. The other 3 are fine, I installed
them and the page looks okay now.

Having looked at other fonts last night. It appears many Punjabi sites
all have thier own download font links. Having installed 12 other
related fonts last night, the Likhari page still needed the fonts they
    say.

One way to tell is very simple, taking the Likhari page as an example.
If you don't get the right font, view the HTML source.

You should see some of the HTML code like this -

    <p align="center"><font color="#FFFF00" size="6" face="DRChatrikWeb">

The bit at the end of this particular line ' face="DRChatrikWeb ' gives
    you the font name.

    Further down,

    color="#FFFFFF" face="AnmolLipi"><img src="photos/sangher2.jpg"
    width="42"

    the font is now, AnmolLipi.

Again, (note I ony for obvious reasons search English pages in google,
so there are fewer hits than you may see)

    www.google.com
    Searched English pages for

    font DRChatrikWeb

    Results 1 - 5 of about 6. Search took 0.13 seconds.

    Searched English pages for

    font AnmolLipi.

    Results 1 - 10 of about 14. Search took 0.12 seconds.

It works fine now, but it seems that my Rogers cable ISP was messing
around with their equipment and caused it not to show up in the first

Then why not blame Microsoft and their knackered shitty software they
turn out? Don't blame us. Microsoft just keeps bringing out buggy
software and their latest Windows XP Home and Professional can cause
the fonts not to work right. They mangle it to prevent competitor's
    software from working correctly.

I think you should just go to a computer store and ask for help about
this. I think this is making other posters in here pissed off because
you keep coming back bugging us for help with stupid questions, but if
you continue to ask, you will get stupid answers.

Can you please knock it off? Thanks very much.

Don't need to copy them unless there are some you don't have.

Maybe one of the font files is damaged, and copy won't help.

It's simpler I think, to create a new folder to store the fonts in. Go
to each site that has the fonts you need and save a new copy in the
    folder you just created.

Open Control Panel / Fonts , select and delete the Punjabi fonts. Then
Fonts / Install a new Font. Select the directory you just downloaded the
new fonts into, select All and this will put all the fonts back.
