    Many of those programs keep a list of recently accessed
    files. If you recently saved or opened a file that was
    located on a floppy, the program may just be checking
    to see if it is still there.

    Thanks for you reply but that's not it because I don't use floppy drive that
    much.
    It all started when one time I copied a couple of jpg files from a floopy
    disk using windows explorer.
