    OTOH, at least Sigma realized that continuing with a 3.43 Mp sensor and
    their own SA mount, was not a good business. By moving to a 13.5Mp sensor
    and the Canon mount, they have addressed two of the major issues that they
    had with the SD9 and SD10. If Kodak sells the DCS 14/c for around $2000,
    then it will have a place in studios. But the rated reliability, in terms of
    shutter cycles, is still troublesome, and a studio probably could not accept
    this limitation.

    Sigma's model senses 3.43MP in full color. The tiny sensor in the 14n
    only senses 13.5MP in monochrome. Foveon's is a much bigger optical
    sensor.

    How is sensing red, green and blue (Bayer) monochrome, whereas sensing
    red, green and blue (Foveon) is color?

    That's the sensor. The camera senses almost 14 MP of luminance (about
    4x the X3), and almost 3.5 MP of chrominance (about the same as the X3).

    SteveGeorgette has no concept of the fact that the difference is one of
    chrominance resolution, and falsely believes that RGB datapoints are the
    elemental unit of optics.
