My teenage lad has a lot of military X-Box games which he plays all the
time- the whole COD series for example. Many of his mates play the same
games. He's very friendly with his older cousin, a 25-year-old soldier
who has been to a few of the world's hot spots. I suggested when he left
school that he might join the army to gain qualifications in his chosen
specialist subject- electrical and mechanical engineering (his cousin is
in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers: <http://www.army.mod.uk/
    reme/reme.aspx>).

He didn't fancy the idea, and instead opted to go to college to study the
subject. I don't know of any of his circle of friends who chose to join
    the armed forces either.

My point is that I don't think these games have as strong an effect on
young minds as might be suggested, although I must admit that it may be a
    factor in some cases.
