    Why not use the connectoid that you already defined for your Internet
    connection?

    - Control Panel -> Network Connections
    - Right-click on the connectoid
    - General tab
    - Enable the "Show icon ..." option.

    If you elected to hide icons in the system notification area (aka tray
    area), make sure to set "Always Show" for the connectoid.
