    This varies wildly on your location, the employer and you. However, in
    general, you should be able to find a MCDST-ish position w/o a college
    degree.

  2. I do not have a college degree in IT and I have never had an issue
    finding a job in the IT field. Lasher is correct about many HR
    departments in the field. They are clueless. I had a guy stop me in a
    parking lot one time and beg me for an interview. Apparently the HR
    department at my business said he was not qualified for the position.
    The guy had a freaking Systems Engineer cert and the HR was focused the
    BA degree he did not have. Care to guess the position we were looking
    for? That's right; Junior Network Administrator. The guy was more than
    qualified and I hired him that day.

    Moral of the story: If you know you can do it. If you know you are
    qualified; got for it. Go straight to the source. This guy did, and he
    won.
