    You sure can. However if you have some files encrypted under NTFS they will
    lose that under FAT and you must also remember that W9x will not be able to
    view NTFS partitions.. As far as transferring them the quickest way is to
    have a folder shared on the W98 machine with full permissions and you8 can
    then access that and paste files from the XP machine.
    That is of course if you are linking them together (remember to use a
    crossover cable) as a peer to peer network. Shouldn't be too difficult as
    your modern laptop probably already has a built in LAN interface.
