    Just a couple general comments. Opening ANY attachments in any
    browser, ESPECIALLY in Outlook Express, is a big mistake.
    Especially if you don't see the extensions - which is how most
    malware gets into your computer.

    Save the file (you should have a DL directory or at least use
    Windows/temp), and later open it in the appropriate application
    - Powerpoint, image viewer of choice, Acrobat, Word, Notepad,
    etc. AFTER scanning it for viruses.

    Also, check in Windows Explorer under "options" and make sure
    that you have "show all file extensions".

    You/she may already be infected.

    I would /strongly/ suggest using IE ONLY for browsing (of
    course, you SHOULD use Opera, but you won't) and getting a real
    newsreader and a real email program for those functions. There
    are dozens to choose from, many free.
