We currently have a 3640 in one city and a 2610 in another with NM-HDV
T1 cards on each end , and the routers are connected by a data T1
link. on each side of the vwics there is nortel option 11 pbx's

currently we are doing this on one router (3640)

    !
    dial-peer voice 1 voip
    destination-pattern 65..
    session target ipv4:172.16.254.6
    dtmf-relay cisco-rtp h245-signal
    req-qos controlled-load
    codec g711ulaw
    ip qos dscp cs5 media
    no vad
    !
    dial-peer voice 2 voip
    destination-pattern 85..
    session target ipv4:172.16.254.6
    dtmf-relay cisco-rtp h245-signal
    req-qos controlled-load
    codec g711ulaw
    ip qos dscp cs5 media
    no vad
    !
    dial-peer voice 11 pots
    destination-pattern 6...
    port 1/0:0
    prefix 6
    !
    dial-peer voice 12 pots
    destination-pattern 7...
    port 1/0:0
    prefix 7
    !
    dial-peer voice 13 pots
    destination-pattern 8...
    port 1/0:0
    prefix 8
    !

    And this on the other:

    dial-peer voice 1 voip
    destination-pattern 6...
    session target ipv4:172.16.254.5
    dtmf-relay cisco-rtp h245-signal
    req-qos controlled-load
    codec g711ulaw
    ip precedence 5
    no vad
    !
    dial-peer voice 2 voip
    destination-pattern 7...
    session target ipv4:172.16.254.5
    req-qos controlled-load
    codec g711ulaw
    ip precedence 5
    no vad
    !
    dial-peer voice 3 voip
    destination-pattern 8...
    session target ipv4:172.16.254.5
    dtmf-relay cisco-rtp h245-signal
    req-qos controlled-load
    codec g711ulaw
    ip precedence 5
    no vad
    !
    dial-peer voice 6 pots
    destination-pattern 65..
    port 1/0:0
    prefix 65
    !
    dial-peer voice 7 pots
    destination-pattern 85..
    port 1/0:0
    prefix 85
    !

I am trying to change the setup to a connection trunk so that we can
pass through caller-id information, message lamp indicator etc,
    between the pbx's/phones.

    like this:

    3640:

    connection trunk +17775551212
    dial-peer voice 10 pots
    destination-pattern +18885551212
    port 1/0:0
    dial-peer voice 100 voip
    session target ipv4:172.16.254.6
    destination-pattern +17775551212
    req-qos controlled-load
    codec g711ulaw
    ip precedence 5
    no vad

    2610:

    connection trunk +18885551212
    dial-peer voice 20 pots
    destination-pattern +17775551212
    port 1/0:0
    dial-peer voice 200 voip
    session target ipv4:172.16.254.5
    destination-pattern +18885551212
    req-qos controlled-load
    codec g711ulaw
    ip precedence 5
    no vad

then when i do a shutdown, no shutdown the voice port comes up in
S_TRUNK_PEND (not sure what that means) status on the VPM on all
channels, and nothing works, for example when I dial a 4 digit
extension to ring a phone in the other office.

Have i done something fundamentally wrong?
