Q: PIX OSPF Support ?

Discussion in 'Cisco' started by Martin Bilgrav, Oct 7, 2004.

  1. Hi NG,

Can the pix run OSPF between 2 PIX's with a Lan2Lan tunnel via the tunnel ?

  2. Hi Martin

    Have you checked Jean's

OSPF is unfortunately not something you can just get through a PIX via an
access-list. OSPF uses its own protocol atop IP, so you will need to
somehow tunnel it through, since the PIX doesn't know how to understand the
    OSPF packets.

Options could include tunnel interfaces on both routers, assuming your PIX
routes (not NAT) between the routers' ethernets. Another option might be to
reassess your design -- dynamic routing through a firewall is best
    avoided...
