    Hello all,

    I am trying to do something that is simple on paper but difficult to
    implement;

    Hardware:
    Cisco= 6509 IOS
    Nortel= Pasport 8610 v3.7

    Just trying to get the boxes to talk spanning tree (pass BPDUs with
    each other) before moving onto four in a loop, trunking/routing is
    fine. Setting the bridge priority has no effect.

    On the cisco everything is default;

    spanning-tree mode pvst
    spanning-tree portfast bpduguard default
    no spanning-tree optimize bpdu transmission
    spanning-tree extend system-id
    spanning-tree vlan 400 priority 8192

    interface GigabitEthernet1/3
    switchport
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 400
    switchport mode trunk
    spanning-tree cost 10

    On the nortel;

    stg 3 create mac 01:00:0c:cc:cc:cd ntstg disable
    stg 3 add ports 3/8
    stg 3 priority 65535

    vlan 400 created in spanning tree 3 and port 3/8 added to it.

    Not seeing anything sent to 01:00:0c:cc:cc:cd when i change bridge
    priorities on the Nortel only on the Cisco.

    Does port 3/8 need also have to be in vlan 1 for untagged BPDUs on the
    nortel??

    On the cisco's how can you tell which spanning tree group a vlan is
    in??

    Thanks in adavance.
