Proper image deployment process

Discussion in 'MCITP' started by Mike Russcher, Nov 19, 2008.

  1. Studying for the 70-622 exam I see that the proper process to deploying an
    image goes as follows:

    # Creating an answer file by using Windows System Image Manager (Windows
    SIM).
    # Building a master installation by using the product DVD and your answer
    file.
    # Creating an image of the master installation by using the Windows
Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) and ImageX technologies.
    # Deploying the image from a network share onto a destination computer using
    Windows PE and ImageX technologies.

I've done all this but at the end the question I have is why start out by
creating an answer file? It looks like the most efficient way to handle
this is to skip the answer file and just install the master image by hand
    right?
