Here it is... while viewing a page of items on ebay, i see one i want to
look at. I click on that item and it takes me to it. Now, when i'm done with
that one, i click on the back button and it takes me to the page of items.
But, it always returns me to the top of the page, and not to the portion of
the page I was looking at.

    Any solutions to this?

Firefox should return to the exit point, it usually does for me.
However, some pages are behaving like the problem you describe as they
are written like that, so the page is always reloaded when you return to
it. If this is the case, then it is usually better to open the link in a
new tab. For this I use mouse wheel clicking. You can use Ctrl-click if
you don't have a mouse wheel.

Checking the ebay site's html code reveals that they rely heavily on
JavaScript and Document.Write() so my guess is that this is not
something you can do much about, other than opening the link in a tab,
or optionally a new window. Perhaps will take a wee while to get used
to, but it works very well. Also, once you've checked the page out, you
can close the tab with Ctrl-W.

It happens randomly in Mozilla too. Not in IE. It's a bug IMO.

Then you should report it, or at least check on bugzilla if it already
    is.

Well, for the past couple of hours, I've been looking for one. I was
hoping it was a fault with 0.8, but I just installed 0.9 and the same
    problem.

    It drives me crazy.

I do most of my browsing going through EBay listings. Having to screw
back down to where I was everytime I return from an item detail page
really sucks. Looks like I'm going back to IE until there's a fix.

Hold down the Ctrl key when clicking on a link. It opens a separate
    tabbed page.

Yes, that will do it, but it puts us back into having to use the
keyboard when using the mouse alone better suits my situation.

Click using the mouse wheel, or right-click and choose "Open Link in New
    Tab."

Don't forget to checkout Mozillazine and bugzilla at Mozilla.org.... if
the developpers of the software don't hear about the gripes, they can't
    fix them.

Thanks for the hint. It appears as if the problem is well
    documented:
