Nice, but incomplete. You would have done better to have pointed people at
one of the RFC's such as RFC1340
    http://www.zvon.org/tmRFC/RFC1340/Output/frontpage.html

This would have saved bandwidth and prevented you from further proving what
a plagiarist you are. You cannot claim copyright on what is a publicly
    available document.

I'm still waiting for you to publish some information that is both useful
and technically correct. How about a chapter from your book? One chapter as
a taster shouldn't hurt? Lets have a look at it. Post it on your web site,
at least it would have some content then! ROFL!

I do a simple cross reference when the STD1 portocol name
matches the port number name ... see
    http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/rfcietff.htm
"Protocol" in the "RFC's listed by" section

The official list use to be "Assigned Numbers", RFC 1700

but as of RFC 3232, "Assigned Numbers: RFC 1700 is Replaced by on
On-line Database", they are now just listed in an online file that
    gets updated.

The distinction is that RFCs are static documents, that once published
are never changed. To change the contents of an RFC required releasing
    a new RFC.

See "Internet Assigned Numbers Authority" at:
    http://www.iana.org/

    and:
    http://www.iana.org/numbers.html

    The "Port Numbers" section under:
    http://www.iana.org/numbers.html#P

    specifically
    http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers

You're attempting to claim copyright to a listing of ports assignments?
Please tell us that you're kidding!

On the slim chance that you're not. What you have posted is a
compilation of port assignments taken from the 'Assigned Numbers'
    RFC-1700 (http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/cgi-bin/rfc/rfc1700.html) as
well as many other sources. Heck! I wouldn't doubt if you plagiarized

My advice would be that if I were you. I would immediately post a

taken from several sources including RFC-1700.

    Format? What format?

You just posted an incomplete list of ports. A full listing of ports is
    available from other sources.

If you are saying your format is to provide incomplete and misleading
information, then I must agree with you.

Content is everything. Here is how not to do it...

Who's acting stupid here, eh? He merely pointed out that YOU copied
your "copyrighted" material from the RFC.
We already know that you refuse to learn anything, but before you type
your idiotic replies at least READ the postings.

Just that because you can plagiarize the information from other sources
and then serve it up in what you want to refer to as your 'format'. I
do not believe that you can claim copyright on the document presented as
a whole which is what you're doing.

However if you are still going to maintain this belief. Then I think
you should at least cite the sources you've plagiarized from and then
state that the copyright is for your formatting of the information only.
Even this I think, is useless.

Out of curiosity, have you consulted with an attorney re: this subject?
I think you should because all it would take would be for a few
complaints to be sent to the IETF (http://www.ietf.org/), stating that
you're claiming copyright to information they've been maintaining for
    30+ years.

Best learn a little bit about copyright "Tracker."

1.) You cannot copyright information that is not original to you.
Assembling information from elsewhere into a document of whatever format is
called "republishing" or "creating a derivative work."

2.) Copyright *only* applies to *original* writings, compositions or works
of art. This does include, for example, the design of a web site. It does
not, however, include a "format" of information that you do not yourself
    generate.
