My 8 year old VHS player bit the dust this week and I am looking for one
of those combo DVD/VHS decks to replace it in my family room. I would
appreciate a suggestion for a good make/model from the group. My main
criteria is that the DVD player should be able to handle home made VCDs.
I have a a brother-in-law who likes to make family videos on his
computer and he burns them to VCDs to send to us. I used to have a
cheapo $34 DVD player in my office that played the discs fine. But that
doesn't help me at home. I've tried two combo decks (a GO Video and a
Panasonic) and neither of them played VCDs. I don't care if the deck can
copy from DVD to VHS like the Go Video products. That particular feature
isn't of any use to me. I don't care if it plays MP3s or DVD-RAM. I just
want it to be able to play home made VCDs, and due to space limitations
I would rather have a combo unit.

    Any suggestions?
