PIX: logging ;o)

Discussion in 'Cisco' started by Ives Steglich, Apr 21, 2004.

  1. i would like to get some logging messages from a higher logging level
    shown at a lower one

so for example - i'm logging to an logging-server at level 4 and
wann have some special messages from level 5,6,7 too

the way setting the logging level higher and disable all unwanted
    messages isn't that nice actually...

logg mess msg-id - doesn't do the trick

but i guess, its simply not possible?

    another question would be:
is there a way to get debugging informations into a log?

so i set some debuggin and log of from the console
but get it into the log-files?

    greetings
    dalini

Yes, possible in newer PIX revs.

In your case, you would set your message logging level to 4, and then
for each of the special messages, you have to

    logging message MSGID level 4

Those messages would get logged at level 4, but none of the level
5/6/7 messages not specially marked would get logged.
