Passed 70-271 and 70-272

Discussion in 'MCDST' started by Mark Hatfield, Jan 4, 2007.

  1. I have been studying off and on for the MCDST Certification the past several
months. I finally went and took the tests this week. On Tuesday I passed
    70-272 and on Wednesday I passed 70-271.

In general 70-272 was easier. 50 Questions. Passing score is 700 out of a
possible 1000. 70-271 was 61 Questions. Same passing score. 70-271 seemed
    longer and more tedious.

Now that I have completed both of these tests I will probably look at the
MCSA track since the MCDST Certification counts as the elective for the MCSA
    Certification on Windows Server 2003.

    Regards,

    Mark

Congratulations on passing Mark, and welcome to MCDSTness. Having said
    that:

    1. You violated your NDA by telling how many questions were on the test.
    2. Exams are not scored out of 1000. I could explain the extremely
complicated system used, but only Microsoft knows for sure what perfect
score is... it differs on each exam. Oh, and so you know, 700 is passing
score on ALL Microsoft exams, and it does not represent 70%.

    Now good luck on MCSA!

  4. The NDA agreement does not say anything about the number of questions on the
exam, the time allowed or the passing score. It only discusses not
disclosing the content of the exam questions. I actually read it.

At the end of the exam a screen comes up that tells you if you passed or
failed and what your score was. Mine said that I scored 972 out of a
possible 1000 and 1000 out of a possible 1000. You get a score of 1000 if
you get all of the questions correct. I know because I actually did it on
    one of the tests.

Some of the questions must be worth more points than the others. With 50
questions and a total possible score of 1000 each question would be worth 20
points if they were all weighted the same. There would be no way to get a
    score of 972.

    Regards,

    Mark
