    I just went to:
    https://www.microsoftelearning.com/eLearning/offerDetail.aspx?offerId=11583
and ran the check below System Requirements
"Click here to test your sound. If sound is enabled, you will hear a chime."

when I click on 'here' , I hear nothing, yet I'm listening to music as I'm typing.
If OK for others, can you help me out - what volume component IS the 'test chime" ?

Try going to www.windowsupdate.com and updating your computer. I get a
chime when I go to the site. Something has to be configured wrong or
maybe turn off the music while you try.
