OT: Job interview, Good news, Bad news

The bad news is that I didn't quite qualify for the
first position I applied for, they needed someone
who knows the AS400 mainframe. I've heard of
the system and that is the extent of my knowledge.

The good news: I've been called back to schedule
an interview for another position that has opened
up that is more in line with my skills and knowledge.

More to come on this story.

Hey...good luck on the interview! Hope you land the job!
And think of the opportunity you will have to LEARN the
AS400 stuff (OJT). That will round out your abilities
    marvelously.

The interview will be next Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at 1:00 pm CDT.
They are looking for an Wintel Workstation/M$ Network Tech.

The pay is 35K to 37K. If I get it, I will no longer need to drive
that 100 mile round trip to work every day.

Probably true. However, just like unix systems, they are
still in pretty widespread use. Just cuz something newer
is out, doesn't mean you can dump the old functionality
until after it has completely run its life cycle. Heck,
I've still got a single Novell 3.12 server still up for
legacy lookup of data that hasn't had new info added to
it for 3 yrs. Looks like it will finally go the way of
the dodo bird later this year.

I didn't say they weren't useful or dependable. I just think they suck to
work with. Which is probably why I no longer work for the company that had
it. Well that and the fact my weekly paycheck was a roll of nickels. It's
much better where I'm at now. I get a roll of quarters every week.
