"Tighter gun laws after 1989 mass shooting Canada’s worst mass shooting
also happened in Montreal. Gunman Marc Lepin killed 14 women at the Ecole
Polytechnic on Dec. 6, 1989. That shooting spurred efforts for tighter gun
laws and greater awareness of societal violence — particularly domestic
abuse. Canada’s tighter gun law was achieved mainly as the results of
efforts by survivors and relatives of the victims."

Sooooo...that's working out pretty good for Canada then?

Why? Are you planning on p!ssing someone off that owns a gun? Are you planning
on burglarizing a house? Are you planning on robbing a business?

What is so scary about KNOWING that you're protected? If I was a thief, the
FIRST place I would head to is a place with TIGHT gun laws because I know that
nobody can protect themselves, and the LAST place I would try to commit a crime
in would be a place where anyone at anytime could pull a gun right back at me.

Would you EVER think of robbing a donut shop? Has there ever been anyone so
stupid as to rob a donut shop (ok, I'm sure there has been, but that's not the
point). The point is, where there are reponsible people that KNOW how to handle
guns, there is security. All you liberals ever hear about or care about
reporting on are the stupid people that haven't a clue what side of a gun the
    bullet comes out of.

I don't plan on it, but I piss people off frequently without meaning to,
wanting to, or even knowing why I did. Sometimes it's because of things I
do, sometimes it's because of things I don't do, and sometimes it's because
of things that someone else did that I get blamed for.

Not that I disagree that you should have the right to a gun, but a gun is
not protection. It is a weapon.

I say, sure, everyone can own a gun, as soon as I get a force field.

I also don't perceive it to be in YOUR character to try to commit a crime.

  12. I am sorry that this amuses you, and that as Americans - the country affected
by more gun violence than Ireland is affected by potatoes - finds it amusing
to point to Canada when we have a tragedy and crack jokes about it. I am
almost amused that you are so numbed to it that is the butt of jokes to you
rather than the tragedy that it is, especially after we as Canadians have
stood beside you in mourning and friendship after countless such tragedies in
    your country.

I remember all three such incidents in Montreal in the past seventeen years.
I remember December 6, 1989 like it was yesterday. When there was a
shooting rampage at Concordia University in 1993 I spent four hours trying to
get in touch with my best friend who was a student there. Today when I heard
it happenned I spent twenty minutes trying to track down my friends who study
    there.

Dawson College is my alma matter. I spent two years there and it saddens me
that this could happen there. It angers me that there are people in this
world who would do it. It sickens me that people like you would make a joke
    of it.

....I'll bet it did not even occur to you that someone so close to it would
ever read what you posted, did you?

Ok. Maybe you'll get this, maybe you won't. But it's the answer to your
    question.

    It Only Makes Me Laugh
    Oingo Boingo

I don't know why I feel this way
I don't know if it's right or wrong to laugh at misfortune
Darkness can never last too long

Every time I think I'm falling
And there's nobody around to hold me up
And it seems like the world has come to an end
I look for miles but not a face is friendly
But then suddenly a hole opens up in the ground
The bottom of the hole is a raging fire
I try to jump over but there's no way
The next thing I know, I'm going down

    Does it hurt?
    Oh, it really doesn't matter
    Does it burn?
    Oh, no
    Oh, I don't feel a thing
    Does it sting?
Oh, yeah, it really doesn't matter
    Does it hurt?
    Oh, I don't give a damn

When I find myself falling and I hit the bottom
    It only makes me laugh
    It only makes me laugh
When I go down the hole and I hit the bottom--

The last time that I fell in love
The love was milk and honey but the milk turned sour
    The woman became a monster
And everyone I knew had become a stranger
But the room went black and my luck was spent
The floor opened up, down I went

    Does it hurt?
    Oh, it really doesn't matter
    Does it burn?
    Oh, no
    I don't feel a thing
    Does it sting?
Oh, yeah, it really doesn't matter
    Does it hurt?
    Oh, I don't give a damn

When I find myself falling and I hit the bottom,
    It only makes me laugh
    It only makes me laugh
When I go down the hole and I hit the bottom

    It only makes me laugh
    It only makes me laugh
    It only makes me laugh
    Coming right back
    Coming right back
'Cause you can't keep me down
    Can't keep me down
    Oh, in the ground

    Does it hurt?
    Oh, it really doesn't matter
    Does it burn?
    Oh, I don't feel a thing
    I don't mind just a little pain
    Wooh, oh yeah
    Whoa...

Remembering when I was a young man
How everything seemed to turn against me
I didn't know a soul, it was an alien place
The sun was covered by a dark cloud
And though I tried, I couldn't find a way to escape
The only way to go was straight down

    Does it hurt?
    Oh, it really doesn't matter
    Does it burn?
    Oh, no
    I don't feel a thing
    Does it sting?
Oh, yeah, it really doesn't matter
    Does it hurt?
    Oh, I don't give a damn

When I find myself falling and I hit the bottom
    It only makes me laugh
    It only makes me laugh
When I go down the hole and I hit the bottom
    It only makes me laugh
    It only makes me laugh
    It only makes me laugh
    It only makes me laugh

I don't know why I feel this way
I don't know if it's right or wrong to laugh at misfortune
Darkness can never last too long--
When you laugh in his face
    Ooh, ooh, yeah
When you laugh in his face

    Wooh!

I don't know why I feel this way

sadly, this is easily familiar for those in Montreal. there was a school
shooting there in 89 that killed something like 15 people. sad stuff

It was likely Mitch (MontrealMCwhatever) that put him off. It's too far a
trek to tick people off in Montreal from Ontariariario. I just annoy the
tourists. "Yes, they close off the falls at 2 am to conserve water"

I'm niether here nor there on teh issue, but I think that we do have a
reduced frequency vs some locations. It is on the rise and I don't see that
ending soon. The rediculous part is that our border guards don't get guns
(until recently) and that's just plain odd.

So some dumbass thinks you cut him off, and decides to road rage on your
ass. He has a gun, he shoots you dead. In Canada he has a bat, and takes a

Drive more carefully and you won't come across that situation.

If he knew you had a gun, or at the least thought that you COULD have a gun, and
could shoot back at him, he'd think twice about pulling it in the first place.
It's not about CARRYING the gun...it's about *being able to* carry the gun.
