OT: Ever hear of brand "Panoramic" analog camera?

I'm trying to identify this (non digital) big piece of very shiny
black plastic. I'm mainly curious about the subject.

Looks like it has a really big plastic/glass/whatever lens piece
    covering maybe a 50mm lens.

The very cheap looking little plastic lever popped off when I tried
opening the film bay. Snapped it back on.

The only thing it says is "Panoramic" and that looks like a brand
name. The owner has a flash attachment.

Any leads to information (if there is any) about Panoramic brand
    cameras would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    No.

And you haven't really given a good description, in any case.

The brand name isn't a good description?

FWIW - analog is not really very accurate - if it's 'film' you're talking
about, I'd say 'film'. In a way film is digital too, ever hear of 'grain'?

In a way. Only the very best photographers are able to make
backups of their film that are digitally identical. It's probably
because the gelatin introduces too much analogicity and requires
    very precise, low temperature processing.

It should be accurate enough for anyone to understand that it's not a
    digital camera.

    > if it's 'film' you're talking about, I'd say 'film'.

    I'll be more careful.

Ever hear of brand "Panoramic" digital/film/analog/plastic/black/shiny
    camera?

    > In a way film is digital too,

You could argue that modern computers are analog since the most
fundamental component is a transistor, but only if you have absolutely
positively nothing else to do in the world.

Yes, but nothing about that you don't already know.

You have an ungracious way of responding, which along with the paucity of
information supplied, means that you are very unlikely to ever get the
    answer you seek.

My troll detector is beginning to pick up a very strong smell. If you
    are serious, do the following:

    1. Tell us what size "analog" does it use--35mm, 120....?
    2. Post the markings on the lens
    3. Measure the device(length, width, thickness) and post the results
    4. Most important--photograph it and post the photograph.

If you are not willing to do these things, you aren't going to get any
help, except for your sock-puppet alter egos.

I detect a troll looking for a justification to talk about his
    imaginary kill file friend.

Sounds like the Wizard of Oz.

I would think that a brand name is enough when you are being asked
whether you have heard of that brand name.

When you don't know something, no answer is probably best.

I do not use sock puppets. What is your ignorance talking about?

By the way, elsewhere when you wrote:
"Now that you are in my killfile I will see posts from one less
idiot." That should be "one fewer idiot".

You know everything, therefore the question must be wrong or the

Maybe it's an obscure camera that no one in here has ever heard of it.

If he really meant "fewer". It could also be a different

have the same meaning as "bigger" idiot. <g>

You are correctomundo JD. There are about 10 resident trolls who live in this
newsgroup with nothing better to do. They never answer with anything helpful for
anyone because they really don't know anything but what they read in newsgroups.
Note: not one of them have a clue about the camera you are talking about because
nobody's posted that brand-name here yet. If it isn't posted in a newsgroup, it
doesn't exist to them. That's how small their world and experience is. They only
try to get arguments going for the attention they crave, because nobody will
give them that in real life, with good reason. The top 3 resident-trolls have
already replied to your thread. Perhaps the rest will join them. They are easy
to spot because they're always the first to yell "troll" as their
attention-seeking behavior. They live as troll, breathe the word troll, ARE
    troll.

Good luck in finding the info you seek. You just have to weed out the useless
fuckwad resident trolls that are replying.

Too bad it's difficult to research because the name coincides with the
function. That probably dwarfs any information there could be about a
    Panoramic brand camera.

To someone who hasn't seen it, the word Panoramic could suggest
something about its function. But there is no other marking that could
be construed as a brand name and there isn't much to the camera
    besides a plastic shell.

    > If it isn't posted in a newsgroup, it doesn't exist to them. That's

Yeah, but a discussion group might be the only place to find
information if there were any, something someone else might have
    learned/heard of throughout the years.

The trolls do have one purpose, to keep the thread alive. At first I
was sort of looking for the manual, but maybe the maker didn't know
enough to write one. The owner is more than satisfied with my efforts.
    Now I'm just curious.

    Thanks.

You have convinced me beyond a doubt that you are truly a troll of the

One of the more stupid kind in this newsgroup (or any newsgroup).

Usenet used to be a useful place, until packs of lunatic trolls set up residence
in each one of them because nobody will interact with them in real life.
Newsgroups can still be useful, just put on the peril-sensitive-sunglasses (a`la
Douglas Adams). They eventually find someone else to manipulate for their much
needed attention. Or as one of the resident trolls noticed today, someone can
out-troll them and give them another kind of attention they weren't expecting,
the kind that could totally destroy their meager online life from which they can
    never recover.

    They're never too bright.

    Thanks.

I agree USENET could be better. Internet service providers can monitor
everything a user sends and receives, with or without his (or her)
permission or knowledge. A user cannot be anonymous to his ISP. In
light of that, I would like to see ISPs assign a unique ID number
(like mine does, I think) for USENET authors. It would completely hide
the posters identity from other USENET users except for the purpose of
helping other USENET authors to recognize and understand the value of
a particular comment/posting (based on that users posting history). If
Internet service providers were interested in USENET, they could peer
only with other Internet service providers that do the same. So the
only nym shifting would be possible when switching ISPs and that isn't
nearly as easy. The main goal is to stop a troll from nym shifting,
not to limit free speech or to stop personal anonymity. Knowing who
the poster is (by his posting history) probably would limit much of
the abuse. Between now and then, I read header information with every
post I read, or at least when in doubt.

    Have fun.
