Are DMZ zones suppose to be Internet address or can it be a 172.16.XX.XX?

Whatever you wish. If access is properly blocked, it doesn't matter if
you use public addresses. It depends on whether you want to use NAT
between the DMZ and outside networks
DMZ generally refers to a level of security given to a network between
the security given to outside or inside networks.
