They never look into domestic alarms. They're too prone to being
    triggered accidentally.

    about 7:40 pm

I was walking back from work when about 150 m away from home I started
hearing an alarm system. "Sounds like mine" I wondered and started walking
faster when a Police car came rushing past with lights flashing. "Woohoo -
my tax dollars at work - catch the bastard!" I thought and hurried even
more. Indeed - they were right outside my place, lights flashing, car door
open, and it WAS my alarm wailing. And there was someone else standing there
with the Police - yes, they must have caught the bastard! I came closer and
watched - as the police man gave the guy a ticket (I hadn't seen his car),
got into his car and drove off - WITHOUT A SINGLE BLOODY LOOK AT WHY MY
    ALARM HAS GONE OFF!

    Well, isn't that just peachy.

    Hi all,

do I just criticise the Police? No - on the contrary. I also support them
wherever I can (including catching burglars myself ;-) - as an example I'm
currently mediating a sale between the University and the Auckland Police
Department to get them three laptops and as a courtesy set them up for them
(which took me nearly all day yesterday). I realise that the police is
underpaid & overstretched, and I have quite a few contacts there - what I do
not understand is the attitude of this police officer and I was fuming
yesterday. Not the best state of mind to write something, but it doesn't
change the fact. Or as a German saying goes: "Criticism where criticism is
due" - and it was due yesterday (although I should probably have called the
police and laid a complaint instead of just airing my grievance).

So my apologies to the newsgroup for this off-topic posting. Will keep my
temper (which I allegedly don't have) better next time.

    Best Regards

    Markus

There's no economic incentive to solve a crime, there is to dish out a
    ticket!
