Offline Files have a bug in xp x64

Discussion in 'Windows 64bit' started by =?Utf-8?B?QmVuIEw=?=, Nov 21, 2005.

  1. If I make a folder available offline in x64 that has only read permissions.
"user R", the files cannot be be removed from the cache. They just get
stranded and cannot be deleted even if the folder is unchecked.

    ---------------------------
    Offline Files
    ---------------------------
    Cannot delete '\\Mr_file\Shared_RW\Ben\offline3\VC2-4.swf'.

The file is currently in use.
    ---------------------------
    OK Cancel
    ---------------------------

This behavior works fine on XP32, so where can I post a bug report about this?

    Thanks,
    Ben.

  2. Deletion requires 'write' permission.

  3. I'm not trying to delete the files. I'm merely removing them from offline
cache. The desired behavior works fine in XP 32bit but doesn't work in XP 64
bit. That means it's a bug.

Please try to reproduce what I actually did instead of just stating the
    obvious.

    Ben.

  4. I'm sorry, Ben. I am not currently involved with 'off-line' stuff - I
believe you should be able to disable it altogether, however, being barred
from selectively removeing things from the cache, must indicate something is
currently accessing the storage, or - that cache might have inherited
permission from parent folder?) . Is IE closed down? Is something logging
on-line activities to off-line in real-time? Tried opening another instance
    of the file-manager?

Sorry, if this isn't helpful, but something must be 'hanging on' in there!

You might be able to open 'Task Manager' and watch for active processes
while momentarily disabling the off-line stuff and see what else goes down
    with it???
