Norton Utilities...

  1. ....sucks rotten eggs thru straws.
    too slow, too confusing as to what the modules
    actually do. It appears NU just tests the PC, but doesnt
    actually do anything besides defrag and scandisk which
    windows can do by itself.
    I left one module running for the night and it still was only 39% done!

    whats a surface scan anyway?

    I cant say much about old Pete's books either.

    Nuts&Bolts seems to do about the same as NU, but with nicer
    graphics.

    What are some good apps which test and fix PC problems.
    I know of Tuff-Test and Burn-in test.
