No PS2 Mouse

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Charlie Evans, Aug 27, 2004.

  1. Running Win98SE. Have new Mainboard w/new memory. CPU is 1 G Duron (AMD)
Had a lot of problems with some malware, some spyware, etc... Ran all the
programs suggested by *Mike* and some others also. Device manager says that
PCI and USB are using interrupt 12 and that it cannot be changed. WILL NOT
even find the PS2 mouse on startup. Have to use a serial mouse. Have run 3
virus programs and still nothing. Have re-installed Win98SE over existing
system and have uninstalled most of the items in system and uninstalled the
mouse hoping that Windows would find it on a Boot from scratch. No luck and
when I try to Install from Install new hardware, system will lock up. Seems
to be a driver problem from one of the other programs or hardware items.
Any ideas for a Fix other that fdisk, format, reinstall???
    Any help appreciated.

check the bios to be sure ps/2 mouse support is even enabled
    (some mobo's have that option)

if that's ok you may want to try deleting the ENUM key in the registry
and rebooting and letting your machine reinstall all hardware
