Nikon 70-200 VR AFS Flare Solution?

got me thinking. I made an extension to the existing hood from black
cardboard. I didn't worry about making it a "petal" shape and found that I
could lengthen the hood by about 10cm. Made it so that it fits tightly over
the existing hood. Just a push fit. Did some test shots and found
dramatically reduced flare when shooting in the direction of the sun (no sun
in frame). Could probably extend it even further by making the extension
    hood into a petal shape.

    Any suggestions/comments.....???
