Universal will revive Scarface on September 30th. The initial technical
specifications look pretty good with an announced Dolby 5.1 audio and,
bending to the current trend, both a P&S as well as an anamorphic 2.35:1
video versions. You get either version or opt for the Scarface (Deluxe Gift
Set) which includes both the 1983 and the 1932 Paulo Muni original version.
The one film discs have a suggested price or $26.98 each with $59.95 for the
deluxe set. The extras listed for the new release are interview footage
presented by Def Jam featuring today's hottest music stars commenting on how
    Scarface has influenced their life and music; The Rebirth of Scarface;
Acting Scarface; Creating Scarface: The TV Version; Alternate Ending.

On October 14th Paramount has some very low cost discs due out. Black
Sunday, Browning Version and Lipstick. so far it looks like pretty low end
specs of stereo and full screen for all. he suggested cost is $9.98.

Fox Lorber chimes in with releases set for September 9th. Included are
Russian Ark (Masterworks Edition), Dark Habits, Kaaterskill Falls (Special
Edition) (5.1/16:9), Game Is Over (a.k.a. La Curee), In Search Of Dracula,
Terror Is A Man and Terror Of Frankenstein.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (Collector's Edition) will be released by
Paramount on October 14th. Presented in anamorphic video and Dolby 5.1 audio
the extras are listed as audio commentary featuring William Shatner and his
daughter Elizabeth, a retrospective look by William Shatner about the making
of this film, a text commentary and several other behind the scenes
featurettes. Price is listed as $24.99.

Disney/Buena Vista has updated the technical specifications of a few titles.
Apparently some consumer dissatisfaction prompted these changes. Confirmed
as anamorphic with Dolby 5.1 audio (some THX) are Apple Dumpling Gang,
Escape To Witch Mountain, Return From Witch Mountain and Absent-Minded
Professor (not confirmed as anamorphic/Dolby Surround). All are due out
    September 2nd.

For the younger set the ever present Olsen twins will release by means of
Warner Brothers, Mary-Kate And Ashley DVD Giftset 1. It features the various
of their world trip films on a four disc set. Release date is September 2nd
    for $49.98.
