New Releases: BBC Sci-Fi, More from Home Vision: Updated complete downloadable R1 DVD DB & info list

    Goldhil Home Media has men at war as well as animals attacking. December
    16th brings to DVD Attack - Maneaters & Mankillers: Lions & Africa's Giants
    and Attack - Maneaters & Mankillers: Sharks & Crocodiles for $14.95 each or
    a two pack, Attack - Maneaters & Mankillers (2-Pack) for $24.95. Also on
    that date is Visions Of War #1: World In Flames, Visions Of War #2: Story Of
    Hitler and Visions Of War #3: Blitzkreig for $14.95 each or Visions Of War
    (3-Pack) for $29.95.

    On January 13th Ventura has some late seventies Asian marital arts flicks.
    Included are Best of Shaolin Kung Fu, Dance of the Drunken Mantis,
    Invincible Armour, Super Power and Wonderman of the Shaolin. Follow on
    January 27th are Big Brother 3 (USA reality show), Freeway Speedway 1 and
    Paparazzi #1.

    Ventura also will release on January 27th, the Japanese horror flick Tomie.
    The release sports sub titled Dolby 5.1 audio and anamorphic 1.85:1 video.
    Extras are noted as a trailers for the entire series and a making of
    featurette. The suggested price is $19.99.

    Studio Works will release Bob Dylan: 1966 World Tour - The Home Movies on
    February 3rd. List price is $14.99 and it will have a re-mixed Dolby 5.1
    audio.

    For anime collectors Pioneer will release Captain Herlock: Vol 1 The Legend
    Returns, Heat Guy J #4: Hidden Fangs and Last Exile #2: Positional Play on
    February 3rd as well as L/R: Licensed By Royalty-Mission File 2: Targets on
    January 27th. Each release lists for $29.98 and most will have widescreen
    video.

    Warner Brothers has some new titles on the horizon. On February 10th they
    have Bogus, Carpool (1996) and the animated X-Men Evolution: Powers Revealed
    for $14.98 each. Fans of foreign directors can look forward to several
    classics due out on February 17th including Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow
    Up, The Damned and Death In Venice. All are in widescreen and what looks
    like mono audio. The suggested price is $19.98.

    Warner Brothers has more of the ever popular, long running Sci-Fi British
    series Doctor Who can get two more discs on March 2nd, Doctor Who #48: Seeds
    Of Death and Doctor Who #65: The Three Doctors. The extras listed for Three
    Doctors is listed as Audio Commentary with Actors Katy Manning and Nicholas
    Courtney and Producer Barry Letts; Cast Biographies; Interviews with Actors
    Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Katy Manning, Nicholas Courtney and Writers
    Bob Baker and Dave Martin and Photo Gallery. For Seeds they are listed as
    Audio Commentary by Actors Frazer Hines and Wendy Padbury, Director Michael
    Ferguson and Script Editor Terrance Dicks Cast Biographies; Deleted

    Speaking of BBC Sci-Fi, BBC will release Red Dwarf: Series 3 including Audio
    Commentary on every episode; Original Documentary - "All Change"; Raw FX
    Footage; Isolated Music Cues; Trailers; 12-page Collector's Booklet;
    Featurette - "Food"; Hattie's DJ Diary; Tribute to designer Mel Bibby; Audio
    Book Chapters; Outtakes & Deleted Scenes. Red Dwarf: Series 4 with extras
    slated as Documentary "Built to Last"; Featurette "Lurve"; Can't Smeg Won't
    Smeg Special; Ace Rimmer - A Life in Lame; Raw FX Footage; Isolated Music
    Cues; 12-page Collector's Booklet. Each set has a list price of $34.98.
    There is also a two pack set for $69.98. All are due out on February 10th.

    Sony Music's Dixie Chicks: Top Of The World Tour Live due out on December
    2nd has been confirmed as having Dolby 5.1 audio.

    Some additions to the next release set from Home Vision has come in. On
    January 20th they will release The Cure, listed extras are 20-minute
    interview with director Kiyoshi Kurosawa; Filmography; Liner notes by Tom
    Mes, founder of midnighteye.com; Original theatrical trailer. Underworld
    Beauty, Blackmail Is My Life, If You Were Young: Rage, Kanto Wanderer and
    Tattooed Life. All are set for anamorphic original scope video and English
    subtitles.

    Image adds to the fad of re-releases in double feature packs with the
    February 3rd release of Another Man's Poison / Rain, Blockade / The
    Stand-In, Copenhagen / Gin Game and Lady For A Day / Champagne For Caesar
    for a retail price of $14.98.

    Universal Music has a few discs that may interest some out there. Coming
    soon, November 25th, are Grindcore: 85 Minutes Of Brutal Heavy Metal, Jack
    Johnson: Thicker Than Water, Levine: Metropolitan Opera Orchestra Beethoven:
    Fidelio, No Doubt: Rock Steady Live and Queen: Greatest Video Hits #2
    (Special Edition).

    From Xenon, Celia Cruz: Eternal Voice on December 16th. Due out on December
    30th Lo Mejor del Chespirito #1 and Lo Mejor del Chespirito #2. Baberellas
    on January 13th. And on January 20th Aventuras En El Centro De La Tierra,
    Coquetta, Fubar, La Zona del Silencio and Los Canallas.
