    With W7 and Skype 5.5..???

Its stated CPU to slow and Video calls are grayed out, I can sort of get
it working with Skype 4.2 but it changes the desktop resolution, but I
can set it back to the 1024 x 600.

This is with a Intel Atom N570 dual core CPU..

What I cant understand is a 10" Dell that has a 1.3 Web Cam but only a
N450 CPU single core comes with Skype..

My Wife has one and it will not run Skype 5.5 with W7, Video calls
    grayed out..

Plenty of comments on the Web about this problem, so its not just me.

My netbook is the original single core N270 and skype video is fine.
Your problem is probably that you are still on 1200 baud dial-up.

Its the Skype that is reporting the Problem ever before I go on line
Video is Grayed out line speed is being reported as 100% and I have a
very Fast cable service, this problem is being reported on the net many
times, it lists CPU to slow.

And what version of Skype are you running, not 5.5 me thinks or
    Windows.7

You said that they put a webcam on that cant be used. I gave many uses
for it that are not skype.

The first 10" dell with the pathetic sized SSD and XP works fine for
skype video. Have a relative with one that uses it all the time. Perhaps
its just your HP that is crap?

No according to the reviews of it.

I can run 4.2 but it stuffes up the screen resolution drops it to
800x600 from memory, not so good for my wife to run, shows the CPU as
slow but dose not stop the Video calls like V5.5 dose.

Not here it doesn't. The screen resolution does not change.

I suspect you might have something checked on one of these
    property sheets' "Compatibility" tab.

    1) Right-click on the icon you used to launch Skype 4.2,
select Properties, and then pick the "Compatibility" tab.

    2) Right-click on the file "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\skype.exe"
select Properties, and then pick the "Compatibility" tab.
