Nero CD burning problem

I'm really at my wit's end.

I had NO issues with Nero 6 since I bought my PC, dozens of burns no
    problem, no coasters.

All of a sudden (I mean really, I changed nothing) I get "invalid write
state" / "could not perform endtrack" / "session fixation error" no
matter what I do. I've ruined about 9 CDs trying to fix the problem now.

    I tried (in order):

    1. Re-install Nero (latest version)
    2. Install Adaptec ASPI drivers in the Windows directory
    3. Re-install WindowsXP ("upgrade") option

I get the same error after every step. I'm using the same media as I
always have. Nero Help is possibly the most useless document I've
    encountered.

    Other clues, though:

    1. I can't burn with the WinXP burn utility either, although it would
appear that it writes a lot more to the disk (I nearly thought it was
going to succeed) before it gives up and fails.

    2. The only thing I think I did differently the last time was that I
used Nero to image a CD to my Hard Disk, however I've done thing before
and burned successfully afterwards (yes I changed the recorder back to
    the CDR drive)

The full error log is below. If anyone can help me with this it would be
greatly appreciated and I'm getting really peeved off at this $%@#$!

comes with windows media player. At least that will prove whether it is you
    software or hardware BB

If it really is my burner that's toast, it's under warranty and I can
bring it back. But if it turns out the thing was fine, they'll charge me
for labour and such to tell me it's my own problem to deal with!

I've already tried with both Nero and the WindowsXP burning utility and
    both don't work.

Is there something else I should check or try before I bring it in
    (hardware or software) ???

Where can I get a previous version of Nero (the Ahead site only offers
    the most recent version) ???

The most fishy thing is that it worked like a charm up until 2 days ago
when it just gave up and won't go back to that way it was. Never had
this problem before now it won't go away.

It looks like you are aware that Nero does not use the Adaptec driver,
but a note on that 4.7x version... it has been reported to be much more
problemsome than the 4.60 version. I think you need to use the latest
    ForceASPI to plop 4.60 in.

My thoughts would go along the line that the drive is bad and it could be
worth the expense to have them prove otherwise. It seems that you have
covered the basics and the fact that it quit working suddenly seems to support
    that.

Perhaps a free call to the manufacturer's support could help. I believe that
is a LG drive http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp They list their support
number as 1-800-243-0000... which I found to be a little odd.

Speed Demon <1@2.3> impressed us all with the following remark:

    > If it really is my burner that's toast, it's under warranty and I can
