need freeware DVD player with frame-by-frame forward *and* back

    Looking for a freeware DVD player that allows you to pause the video
    and then to go forward *or* backward frame-by-frame.

    (Media Player Classic only allows going forward frame-by-frame
    but *not* backwards).

    VirtualDubMod allows doing this for VOB files (and plain MPEG-2/MPG/M2V
    files). If it is a commercial DVD, you may need to rip it to the HDD
    first, removing the CSS encryption. (However, VirtualDubMod is not a
    "real" DVD player that would support menus, navigation, etc.)
