Here's the problem.....I have tried two different mouses and three
different pads. I have cleaned the mouse. And yet when I lock down
the scroll feature on the mouse I can't control the cursor. In other
words...I will move the mouse but the cursor wont move on the screen or
it will sometimes go in the opposite direction.

Further....this problem developed almost over night. I am aware that
this post paints me as a complete idiot.....and I am willing to accept
the heat for that......But somewhere in the replies I hope to find an
    answer. Thank you

Try scanning your PC with an up-to-date anti-virus. There are also some free
    ones online. Here's one: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Nope! He's let the family pets (Tom?) too close to the computer!
