Mouse Problem

    Hi.

I just recently bought a new Microsoft wireless keyboard and optical mouse
package and installed it the way it told me. The problem is that the mouse
seems a tiny bit "laggy" for just a fraction of a second. It also seems
unsmooth and unpredictable. Everything else seems fine.
I've already tried the "connect" button on the receiver and the bottom of
the mouse but the problem persists.
Both ends of the receiver are connected via PS/2. My older optical mouse
    with cord works perfectly.
Can anyone help? Could it be because of a slow system?

    Thanks

Have you tried using new batteries?
Yes, I know, the mouse came with "new" batteries, but they could have been in
the back of the shop for a year.
