Missing my native screen resolution (Nvidia 8800GTX, KVM, ACER TFT)

I have recently upgraded my video card to the latest NVIDIA 8800GTX
(2x DVI ports). I have a KVM switch that I had for 4 years and still
want to use. My screen is a 15pin VGA input only (so as my KVM), it
all plugs to Nvidia via a DVI-VGA adapter (tried several in connection
with my problem). The problem is that I simply cannot get 1400x900
resolution to select for my screen (1360x768 and 1600x900 ARE OK but
not the one I want). When connected directly without the KVM I get my
resolution but I also want my KVM back. Seems to me that some data
signal gets lost in the KVM but I cannot figure why only for this
Nvidia 8800GTX card, as all other cards I use (and KVM ports) have no
    problem finding the correct resolution.

Does any one have an idea?

    Thanks.

Read the manual for the KVM. See what IT supports. Your KVM is possibly
reporting to Windows and your video display adapter that it only has certain
    resolutions available.

Also, did you try to set the nVidia card for a custom resolution?
