miniDV to DVD-R problem

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by ºoºfizzyºoº, Aug 2, 2004.

  1. Basically... I want to be able to transfer my home movies from a miniDV
camcorder cassette onto DVD-R to retain the excellent quality digital
picture (as opposed to copying onto video tape)

I've copied the contents of the miniDV cassette onto my hard drive resulting
in a total file size of 13GB and burnt it onto a DVD-R (via Nero express 6)
but the end result is a bit disapointing. The picture is rather pixelated
and nowhere near as good as the original. Is this just the way it is or
would different (better) software provide me with an improved picture?

nero express's mpeg encoder is shabby, IMO.

i use mgi's videowave software, with some of the best results i have seen.
